"I've been interested in science ever since an eighth grade aerospace (meteorology) class. That went hand-in-hand with Star Trek's (TOS) serious presentation of space exploration, which piqued my interest in astronomy and America's space program (we were deep in the midst of the Apollo program at the time). So, science has been a lifelong interest and dream for me. I'm fortunate that it is also my vocation. I have a Bachelor's degree in Math with 5 minors

      • Physics with Astronomy Option
      • Computer Science
      • Geography
      • History
      • English
and a Master's degree in Meteorology/Climatology from the UN-L Geography Department. My job involves everything I've dreamed of doing: writing software (Fortran) to analyze climate data, writing up the results for publication in research journals and presenting the papers at scientific conferences.

"My Star Trek background spans three decades. In the 1970's, I was founder and the equivalent of President of the Quei-Starmerian Network and Star Base Andromeda. I joined STARFLEET in the late 1980's and quickly rose to the Captain's seat aboard the U.S.S. Alaric. But my love is science, and I direct the planetary science activities of the Alaric as Planetary Sciences Department Chief, and the science activities of Region One (helping as Assistant RDC Science beginning in February 1997 then as RDC Science since November 1998) and of STARFLEET as FRC Science Director (since October 2001)."

"I am an electronics tech, software engineer, and web designer who's been in love with space and science all my life. I grew up with the space program, watching Neil Armstrong take his first 'small step for man' on television and crying with the tragic losses of Challenger and Columbia. My work has taken me to 29 countries and all seven continents.

I have been creating Internet content for 10 years and maintain several web sites. I’m an amateur astronomer, a member of the Planetary Society, UN World Space Week Coordinator for the continent of Antarctica, and cofounder of the Antarctic Astronomy Society.

Also, I'm a freelance journalist, currently covering astronomy and space topics for About.com, the number one news and information service on the Internet. (http://space.about.com)

My STARFLEET duties include serving as XO as well as Science Officer for the USS Rutledge. Part of my job in the SO position includes keeping the crew informed of anything new in the world of science, especially dealing with astronomy and space exploration."
